Copywriting/Content Writing 101: The Customer Avatar

Hi guys. How has the week been? Despite the ups and downs, at least I am still alive.

Now there was something I forgot to mention yesterday. In factbit should have been discussed before yesterday’s topic. 😱😭🤦

What am I refering to you might ask? I am talking about the customer avatar.

Why is it important? Simple. Not everyone would be attracted to the product or service you intend to render.

For example, you cannot sell fitness products to a fashion model. That is why top copywriters always suggest that you niche things down.

What are you interested in? That aline should give you a hint as to what sort of clients you should be attracting. Attract more of what you want.

Do some soul searching and then create your ideal client/customer avatar. What gender benefits the most from the industry you are working with? What age group? The ethinicity or region they are from?

Say for example, you own a make up line and wish to get some sales. Now when it comes to the customer research, you then discover that young adult women from the ages of 20–30 prefer products with some preppy packaging. That means that your marketing has to have a preppy image in place.

Note these down and come up with a customer profile. That should tell you how to go about writing the copy and how best to communicate with the customers.

Remember, you are here to solve other people’s problems not just to sell.
